Most of us resolve to make a change in the New Year. Regardless of our best intentions, most of us blow it within weeks of Jan. 1. One study found that over half the people who set a goal end up failing to keep it.
7 Resolutions You Can Keep on the Hammock Coast
But you can make your goal for 2023. Stay positive and take small steps. We’re here to help. Life slows down on the Hammock Coast, which makes it the perfect place to keep those resolutions you made for this year. We’ll give you a few examples.
Exercise
The No. 1 resolution made each year is: Exercise more/get in shape. That’s a goal easily accomplished on a beach getaway. Ride a bike. Paddle an inlet. The list of activities is endless. VayK Gear rents paddleboards, kayaks, and bicycles.
Enjoy Nature
Get outside. Take a walk on the beach. On the Hammock Coast, that’s as simple as walking out the door of a beachfront property like The Oyster’s Pearl in the DeBordieu community. Huntington Beach State Park also offers outside recreation.
Reduce Stress
Few things in life are more relaxing than lying in a hammock. But, staring at the ocean is one of those things. Even better is relaxing in a hammock while staring at the Atlantic. Put your toes in the sand and feel your stress melt away.
Eat Healthier
Oysters are rich in Vitamin D, iron, and zinc, and are a great source of protein. Adding seafood to your diet makes it easy to keep that goal of eating healthier in 2023. Fish is a low-fat, high-quality protein filled with omega-3 and vitamins D and B2 (riboflavin). The American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least two times a week as part of a healthy diet. You’re in luck on the South Carolina coast, home to a myriad of delicious seafood restaurants.
Stop and Smell the Roses
Brookgreen Gardens is the self-proclaimed floral jewel of South Carolina's coast. The 9,127-acre property includes the Brenda W. Rosen Carolina Terrace Garden with its spectacular array of perennials, roses, and shrubs. As Ferris Bueller said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Treat Yourself
A coast vacation is all about treating yourself. Get pampered with a comfortable stay in a vacation property that has everything you need. Work on your tan, enjoy “me time” and sip fruity drinks with little umbrellas.
