Top Reasons to Spend a Magical New Year’s Eve on the Hammock Coast

What’s your idea of the perfect way to ring in 2020? Sometimes our actual New Year’s Eve celebration doesn’t quite match our expectations. Traffic, crowds, bad weather can all maker a less-than-stellar event. So, this year, how about taking off for a more relaxed holiday? South Carolina’s coast cities are a fun place to welcome in the New Year with low-key parties and family-friendly festivities. Check out a few of the scheduled happenings.

Ring in the New Year at the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet. Restaurants at the MarshWalk offer great dinner and drink specials with live music on all stages. Stick around for the fireworks show at midnight.

Light Up the New Year at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. It’s a bright way to kick off 2020. The sculpture gardens are open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 27, 28 and 31 with thousands of hand-lit candles, holiday lights and mu-sic.

Come aboard the USS Yorktown for its Countdown to 2020, one of the Charleston area’s most anticipated celebra-tions. Located in Charleston Harbor in Mt. Pleasant, the Yorktown gives guests an opportunity to explore the entire ship, enjoy a top-shelf all-inclusive bar and light hors d’oeuvres, as well as get down to live band and DJ perfor-mances on three stages. Whether you love funk, hip hop, jazz, soul, 80’s or Top 40, this party will get you in the groove. And it offers awesome views for welcoming in the New Year.

Not actually a New Year’s Eve celebration, but you can still enjoy the Designer Holiday Showcase at the Kaminski Museum in Georgetown with guided tours throughout the day on Dec. 31. Tours feature the work of some of the area’s best home decor specialists and interior designers as they decorate the rooms of the museum in holiday splendor.
