Formerly a riverfront rice-cultivation property, the Preserve is located on South Carolina's Hammock Coast near the historic seaport of Georgetown, South Carolina—12 minutes from the KGGE FBO (which can accommodate a Gulfstream), only minutes from the Hammock Coast's award-winning, spectacular, sandy-dunes beaches of DeBordieu Colony, Pawleys Island, Litchfield Beach and Murrells Inlet, and one-hour, 15-minute drive from Charleston, South Carolina.
This once-upon-a-time plantation is at the confluence of two rivers; a meeting place of land and water teeming with wildlife. This unique property is being offered as a vacation rental retreat complete with private gated entrance and a full range of activities for guests. The property covers 1028.6 acres with a cozy 4BR main bunk house that offers an incredible water view with floating dock, together with extraordinary luxury outbuildings.
The Buildings-Main House: The spacious one and one-half story owner's house is situated on the waterfront in a grove of live oaks. The low country style home is spacious and offers comfortable luxury. Fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, 4 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms featuring 2 queen suites and 2 upstairs adorable bunk rooms under the eaves with 8 twins. The home is surrounded by nature—and nature only—as far as the eye can see. The house overlooks a 40 acre salt-water impoundment, and is nestled in a centuries-old historic camellia garden and live-oak alley which open to miles and miles of trails through long-leaf pine savannah into ancient cypress bottoms and open fields.
Stable with in-law/groom’s quarters:
The onsite stable which is beautifully designed after Belle Baruch’s own, with six stalls, feed, wash, and tack rooms, “stirrup cup” lounge with bar and fireplace, covered patio with Adirondack chairs, picnic table, and bike parking, groomsmen's quarters, and a roof accented by a clock and bell tower modeled after Hobcaw Barony stables—ring your hikers in for a stirrup cup! The stable boats a one bedroom and one bathroom. The stable overlooks pastures, archery targets, and a stocked fish pond. Guests are welcome to bring horses with additional fee and prior approval.
The Land:
A wonderful feature of Weehaw is the layout of the property. The house, gardens, fields, pastures and all improvements are located in the middle of property surrounded by woods and rice fields. Visitors travel from Weehaw's entrance gates down two miles of a private road to find themselves in a beautiful world of their own. This is truly a very unique experience! Once through the gates you are transported into a nature preserve like no other!
This property offers guests many unique experiences: birding, nature photography, trail biking, hiking, picnicking, stocked freshwater pond with Japanese meditation pavilion and much more.
No smoking and NO PETS.

Words cannot begin to describe how amazing Josh & Maggie's wedding turned out at Longleaf Nature Preserve on 4/6/24. I cannot thank Suzanne & Max & all of the staff at TideLife Vacation Rentals & Longleaf. Everyone was beyond accommodating, the lodge was super clean, the grounds were impeccable & the natural scenery & wildlife is unmatched. We enjoyed having the rehearsal dinner at the main lodge which was the perfect space. And...let's talk about the new bridal suite - the bridesmaids were able to have their own space on wedding day to get hair & makeup done, beautiful lighting, make up mirrors, lounging areas, kitchenette for champagne & charcuterie, plus the separate space for bride & groom. The groomsmen got to get ready in the main lodge having a big time (this is where the groomsmen stayed Friday night) - a little corn hole competition is good for the soul - they all really enjoyed it so much! And the outdoor ceremony setting with the moss draped live oaks & waterfront, reception, & weather just could not have been any better. We got so many compliments & everyone loved it. We are so blessed to have such a beautiful space here in Georgetown, South Carolina. Loved it so much! Pictures to follow online!!!:)

The staff at Tidelife and Longleaf went far beyond my expectations. They are so kind and efficient. We had my daughters wedding at the nature preserve and stayed the entire weekend. I cannot recommend this staff enough!

Suzanne and the rest of Tidelife have done it again! This venue is the perfect combination of adventure and serenity. You feel like you’ve been transported into your own world with a playground for any age. The exercise annex is like your own spa and gym which we spent every day enjoying. We came with our family, but my wife and I wished we knew of the location for our wedding. Water views all around and fantastic lodging so you can celebrate all night and feel at home. We can’t wait to return and explore even more of this special place. Thanks to Tidelife for an amazing adventure and top-notch service as usual. We can't recommend your company enough!

LongLeaf was nothing short of AMAZING for our wedding weekend! The serene views of the water and nature are unmatched and we could not have chosen a more perfect place to get married. The weekend was peaceful even during a chaotic event and we loved every second of it! Saying "I do" beneath the sunset over the marsh was everything we could have dreamed of and we will cherish our memories made that weekend forever. My wife chose this plantation to get married and it was great! The dock leading from the back porch of the house directly on the water made it great for fishing. It was very peaceful and I couldn't have picked a better spot for us to get married. The bedrooms were comfortable, the stable house is where the men got ready and we managed to throw in a fun poker game before the wedding. The wrap around porch on the front of the house made for great space for plenty of gathering, everything was very clean. We were very pleased with this location and would highly recommend it.
Longleaf is a beautiful plantation! Our family and friends enjoyed a great weekend with great views. The fishing, walking and wedding was amazing. We would recommend this place and this rental company 10 out of 10. Hope to stay again with the family for another special occasionn.
