Nine Things to Have in Your Beach Bag for a Pawleys Island Vacation

Now that you’ve chosen and booked a Pawleys Island vacation rental, it’s time to pack a bag for the beach. We can help with our handy guide of what you may need.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a given. Apply plenty of sunscreen throughout your beach day and re-apply after spending time in the water. Be sure to have some lip balm and face sunscreen as well.

Bottled water

Stay hydrated by keeping plenty of water on hand. Other drinks are great, but water is a must. Here’s a tip: Freeze a half bottle of water overnight, then finish filling it up for your beach day. The ice keeps the water cold, while the water helps melt the ice for drinking.

Sunhat and Sunglasses

Protect your face, head, and eyes while at the beach. You may even consider packing two inexpensive pairs of glasses if you lose one pair in the water. (It happens).

Beach Towel

You want a beach towel, whether for laying out, drying off, or wiping down.

Snacks

Take crackers, fruit, nuts, and other to-go snacks to keep everyone from getting hungry. But be sure to pick up your trash as shorebirds can nip at plastic bags and wrappers.

Bluetooth Speaker

If you enjoy tunes while you soak up the rays, put a speaker in your bag. Don’t play music too loud, however. Some folks like to listen to the waves and not much else.

Book

Do you prefer to read? Pack the latest beach romance by Mary Kay Andrews, Patti Callahan Henry, or Mary Alice Munroe, three of our Lowcountry favorite authors.

First Aid Kit

Accidents happen, so it is best to prepare. Fill a Ziploc bag with Band-Aids, antiseptic wipes, headache meds, hand sanitizer, and tissues. Just in case.

Baby Powder

Yes, you read that correctly! After your return to your vehicle, sprinkle baby powder on your feet to easily remove sand.
